A conference on child protection and welfare social work took place in University College Cork (UCC) recently, which examined the current child protection system, and the social and organisational contexts in which child protection services are provided.
The conference was organised by the Health Service Executive (HSE) South, the UCC Social Work Development Unit, and the Irish Association of Social Workers.
Mr Eamonn Collier, Principal Social Worker with the HSE South, said: “The sector has experienced unprecedented growth and investment in the last 15 years which parallels the significant growth of child abuse referrals and children in need of care over this period.”
